The Kelly criterion gives the share of a bankroll that grows it fastest over many bets, if your probability is right: (probability × odds − 1) ÷ (odds − 1). With no edge it is zero.
Full Kelly swings a lot, and a probability that is slightly too high makes it stake too much, so many people use a fraction of it, such as a quarter.
